Sleuths from Vic’s Bar ‘n’ Grill have come up with the identity (alleged) of the offensive notice poster.
He’s been hunted down and will be brought to justice at the Bureau de Spank (Wet Lettuce Division).
President Róisín Annesley announced as much on Wednesday (August 17):
Last week Prez Annesley advised the rank ‘n file that the notice, posted in the dead of night (August 10) on the walls of lifts at Owen Dixon Chambers East, was not the work of the Victorian Bar. She condemned the signage and said the matter was being investigated.
So readers will know what we are talking about here is the homophobic notice itself.
You can just imagine the character who did it. A red wine and cheese barrister, flushed of face, plenty of nose and ear hair, not overburdened with work which allows for plenty of time at the Essoign Club, probably a bit confused about where he (for it’s bound to be a he) lies on the spectrum, bitter and unhappy.
The sort of chap you wouldn’t want to be stuck with if the lift jammed.
Maybe, he could join the breakaway Southern Cross diocese of the Anglican Church which has embraced Viktor Orbán as its the apostle.

In other religious developments, the Melbourne Catholic Lawyers’ Association has the Saloon’s Simon Steward down for a speech at its annual knees-up on September 1.
It’s a two course dinner at the Athenaeum Club and the topic is “The Christian Judge in an increasingly secular world”.
The MCLA’s motto is “Serving God through justice and mercy” and the patron saint is St Ives of Tréguier (1253-1303).
As a youngster, Steward was a student at the Sacred Heart School in Kew and Xavier College.

Hurry, hurry. There are CPD points to be snapped up this Sunday (August 21) at a special sexual harassment awareness training show at Vic’s Neil McPhee Room, ODCE.
The course is a prerequisite for silk applicants and will involve presentations by Prez Róisín Annesley and a panal of senior counsel. There’ll be “hypothetical examples and general discussion”.
It does seem quaint that barristers are lured to instructions about sexual predation with professional points and qualification for silk as bonus enticements.
