An edition of the Wyles One’s curriculum vitae has been unearthed on the internet, replete with messaging that rips the thin silk from the heaving alabaster shoulder of Modesty. 

After the usual puff where we feel the width, depth and breadth of Michael’s practice we come upon this passage from the star silk: 

“I have been assessed with a quadruple dominant profile (which occurs in only 3% of the population). Combined with my natural intellect, this makes me an easy leader, well equipped to bring all to the desired goal. 

My professional achievement has constantly reinforced my ability to quickly master difficult and complex …” blah, blah, blah. 

“These skills facilitated my leadership of the successful campaign to restore the title of Queen’s Counsel in Victoria. An important marketing tool for Victorian silks.” 

In fact, it’s a PR tool often identified with status-seeking than an accurate measure of brilliance. 

Wyles has taken a break from his exhaustive daily email analysis of the Andrews government’s management of Victoria’s Covid cases. Colleagues at Vic’s Bar ‘n’ Grill are predicting a judicial appointment if the Liberals ever return to government in Spring Street. 

For further details about his “natural intellect”, Wyles refers us to the “Herrmann Brian Dominance Instrument”. It’s one of those American tools developed to measure “thinking preferences”. 

It came out of the General Electric facility at Crotonville, where Ned Herrmann was a management guru and is often compared to other psych assessments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. 

The assessment consists of 116 questions with answers based on options or preferences. Wyles says he is “dominant” in each of those profiles.

An article in the Journal of Management Studies suggested, “there appears to be little or no published independent evaluation of several self-report measures developed as management training tools [including] Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument”. 

“There’ll probably be a few issues that we also try and bring to the next stage over the course of the next 12 months, but at the moment we’re very much in a getting-the-balls-out-of-the-air phase.” 

He’s succeeded in fusing the family courts after Liberal-Lite senator Rex Patrick was bought off with a promise of more judges – despite a massive last minute campaign by over 155 individuals and organisations who participate in the family law system. They issued a follow-up statement after the Bill was passed, having a crack at the discredited PWC report. 

Next the AG wants to see “significant improvements” in relation to class actions, specially in shareholder cases and containing plaintiff law firm fees. 

This reform is very much driven by the government’s corporate funders. 

He also mentions privacy and data-sharing and the financial abuse of elderly citizens among his top agenda items. 

Porter also claims to have a “mandate” for his version of an integrity commission, otherwise known as the Corruption Cover-Up Commission. 

The Cardinal says the AG does not seem to treat it as a priority, but would “like it done this year”. 

Even though he’s got the sabre-toothed Stoker as his side-kick there’s no mention of the promised religious freedom legislation or phase two of the defamation law reform affecting internet platforms, take-down orders and the role of the applicant friendly Federal Court. 

Other than that, you’d have to say that Porter is a visionary.
