On The Couch with NSW Attorney General Mark Speakman and Opposition justice spokesman Michael Daley … Duelling contentions … Vision statements … The happiness meter … Last meals

Speakman has served in various portfolios, including environment and heritage. He’s a former Sydney barrister with degrees from Sydney and Cambridge Universities.

Daley worked as a Customs officer, a solicitor, senior in-house lawyer at the NRMA and is a former deputy mayor of Randwick Council.

Together these beachside MPs have shaken the sand off their toes and squeezed onto Justinian’s Couch were they wrestled with probing personal and policy queries.

Describe yourself in three words.

What are you currently reading?

Which actor would you like to play you in your biopic?

When were you happiest?

What are your top three policy achievements as NSW Attorney General?

Speakman:  Expanded pre-court and court drug diversion measures, including in-principle adoption of an infringement notice scheme; affirmative sexual consent laws; and coercive control reforms.

What are your top three policy priorities should you be the next NSW Attorney General?

What are the most difficult aspects about being an attorney general?

What do you anticipate are the more difficult aspects of the attorney general’s job?

What would you have liked to achieve in the portfolio but as yet haven’t?

What happens to you if your party doesn’t win on March 25?

How do you get on with Mark Dreyfus in Canberra?

Can you work with the crossbench in the development and implementation of law and justice policies?

If you were on death row, what would you request for your last meal?

If you hadn’t chosen the law and politics what other career would you have liked to pursue?

What would you change about Australia?

What comes to mind when you shut your eyes and think of the word “law”?

Thanks for your time.
