Lord Eldon QC writes to the Governor General about Norman O’Bryan “AM” … A reflection on Michael Wyles QC’s letter to the Prime Minister … How much worse things are a month after the letter landed in Schmo’s in-tray … Lygon Street’s Lagoon Dining … Theodora reports 

Citing slabs of media coverage about Stormin’ Norman and his “deeply troubling” fee doctoring in the Banksia Securities class action, Eldon “strongly suggests” to the GG’s official secretary, Mr Paul Singer MVO, Esq, that if the reports are true, this warrants confiscation of O’Bryan’s AM.

Why Eldon would be so troubled about O’Bryan’s gong is not clear. After all, the Brisbane silk is a peer of the realm, rating much higher in precedence than O’Bryan with what amounts to an Order of the Wombat. 

Lord Eldon also copied in Air Commodore Mark Gower AM LVO OAM (Mil), official secretary to HE Daphnis de Jersey, Gov. of Qld. 

His letter was signed:

Michael D. Wyles QC’s letter to the prime minister of July 9, 2020 was strange enough, yet seems even more peculiar from the vantage spot of a month or so down the track.

“Mr Dear Prime Minister, 

Please help the State of Victoria

I implore you to bring real and sustained assistance to the 6.6 million Victorians, who, whilst not all locked down, are suffering more than any other Australian from the introduction into Australia of COVID-19. 

Our quality of life has been decimated by the lockdown. The mental strain of another six weeks being imprisoned in our homes, watching our fellow Australians enjoying meals out, good times with friends and new work opportunities, is just too much to contemplate. How do we keep the black dog in his kennel?

Please help Prime Minister. We feel so abandoned by you. We did what you asked of us – we flattened the curve. We limited family gatherings, we embraced good hygiene, we did not travel, we gave up our businesses. Yet we are being punished. Why? 

You say, ‘we are all Victorians now’ – but how? You can enjoy your family, your friends, a meal out, travel to the country – we cannot. 

Please help Prime Minister. We need your help. Mr Andrews needs your help. Please provide the contact tracers Mr Andrews does not have. Please insist this blunt edged lockdown cease or be limited to only those suburbs where the infection is multiplying. 

Please help Prime Minister – free us from our punishment.

If the Wyles One was despairing about being unable to get to his “hard earned” holiday home, the poor chap must really be suffering now that stage four restrictions and a curfew have been in place since August 2? 

And spare a thought for Lagoon Dining, the Lygon Street Chinese eatery into which Mrs Wyles has sunk some hard earned money. Susan Wyles is a co-owner of the Asian diner, having been a regular at Ezard from where some of the team at Lagoon had their beginnings. 

As Wyles told the PM, he’s missing his “meals out”.
